Reverend James Means Speaks at Commencement

The Reverend James Means of Dorchester, MA, speaks at commencement.

Means graduated from Bowdoin College in 1833. He was the pastor of the Second Parish Orthodox Society in Concord, MA, from 1839 to 1844, and he then became a well-known teacher. He served as the principal of Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA, for several years and as a professor of history and English literature at the Spingler Institute (later the Abbot Collegiate Institute for Young Ladies) in New York City.
