Chase Dining Hall

The round portion of Chase Dining Hall was built in 1959. Chase Square was added in 1964 to accommodate the increase in student enrollment. It is said that, although the original plans called for the addition to be round, it was changed to a square to avoid the appearance of a “dumbbell.”

Chase Dining Hall was named in honor of William F. Chase, Treasurer of the College, trustee from 1935-1963, and vice president of the Boston Five Cents Savings Bank.
