Anson McCook Beard, Jr., Wheaton trustee, is awarded an honorary degree.

Mr. Beard served as a member of the board of trustees from 1971 until his retirement in 2008. He served on the executive and resources committees, co-chaired the Campaign for Wheaton in the 1990s, and was the chairman of the board from 1997 to 2001.

The Haas Athletic Center‘s fieldhouse, the Beard and Weil Galleries, Mars Science Center’s green roof and Beard Hall were named for Mr. Beard and his wife, Jean Jones Beard 1965.
