1891Philips Brooks Made Honorary Class Member

Philips Brooks is made an honorary member of the Class of 1891, for whom he wrote a class song.

1971Faculty Pass Coeducation

After an extensive study on the future of the college, the faculty vote in favor of coeducation.

1987Coeducation Begins

In January, President Emerson announces the Trustees’ recommendation, in principle, to admit male students.

1988Wheaton’s First Coeducational Class Arrives

Wheaton’s first coeducation class, consisting of 412 women and men, arrive on campus in September.

1992First Coeducational Class Graduates

Wheaton’s first coeducational class graduates in May.
