1941 - 2003Holcombe Austin

Holcombe Austin was a Professor of Philosophy from 1941 to 1972 (emeritus, 1972-2003).

1943Florence L. Barrows

Dr. Barrows took responsibility for the college’s herbarium, and in 1946 was made director of the Department of Gardens, Trees and Shrubs.

1969Knapton Presents on Napoleon at Conference on Elba

Professor of history Jack Knapton is the only American invited to the Third International Congress of Napoleonic Studies, at Portoferraio, Elba, to commemorate the bicentennial of Napoleon’s birth.

1979 - 1997Francis “Fred” Kollett

Francis “Fred” Kollett was a professor of mathematics and computer science and director of the Academic Computing Center from 1979 to 1997. Kollett Hall was named for Francis Kollett.

1984Mary Lyon Stamp Issued

A postage stamp depicting Mary Lyon is unveiled at Wheaton by U.S. Postmaster General William B. Bloger.

1994Barker Discovers Supernova

Professor of Astronomy Tim Barker and his student assistants discover a supernova.

2002History of Wheaton Published

Professor of History Emeritus and College Historian Paul Helmreich, publishes Wheaton College: 1834-1957: A Massachusetts Family Affair.
